Gold Panning Season Starts as Lynx Creek Flows

Filed under: Home — ted @ 2:42 am

Hard rains in the northen Bradshaws today have caused Lynx Creek to flow even below the lake dam, at least for the time being. It rained so hard on the 69 between Prescott and Prescott Valley that many cars had to pull over for sometime and afterwards both Lynx and Rose were flowing nicely. The water levels were not above the current stream bed but at the very least a lot of worked overburden has been sent down and reconcentrated and of course there will be water for panning in the bedrock pools even if it doesn’t flow for long. I only saw one panner out this afternoon taking advantage of the water but more are soon to follow. I doubt it moved too much gold. Those that know the creek will do well panning though.

The Rains have come!

Monsoons and Gold
Lucky for us, Prescott Valley got pounded with rain for a brief time this morning. It wasn’t much all told but it did make everything nice and damp. I can think of a few headwaters I’d like to see the same amount of water fall on very soon to sort of grease the wheels for the upcoming winter season which seems so far off at this point.

Let’s all hope that our nugget patches get a few good poundings in the weeks to come.
