Tua,

Yes, it's all about the characteristics of the land. On a large scale, it's about whether the geology of the area supports gold mineralization. Am I seeing the colors and features which support that? Has gold been found in the area before now? If I know there is gold, it's about how gold moves and where it comes from. Gold is about the heaviest thing out there and it sinks and tends to get stuck in certain spots. It tends to come from certain places and is associated with certain kinds of host stone. Knowing these tendencies and how they manifest is how to find gold.

The gold detector is just a tool. I'll find gold in the same places with a drywasher, a gold pan or a whisk broom. In other words, the tool doesn't matter to the gold.

Good luck and thanks for posting.
